Defense ministers from France, Germany, Italy, Poland and the United Kingdom gather in Paris on Monday to weigh further military support for Ukraine, French officials said. The group will also discuss European defense and the conflict in the Middle East.

The meeting follows a June session in Berlin, where the same five countries pledged continued backing for Kyiv. That gathering was intended to show Moscow that European support holds.

Fighting persisted alongside the diplomacy. A Russian strike hit Zaporizhzhia on Monday morning, injuring four people, regional Governor Mykhailo Semikin said. Ukraine's emergency service reported two more injured in Russian strikes on the Chernihiv region.

Russia's Ministry of Defence said its forces struck a power station in Kharkiv, a warehouse nearby, and a power station in the Khmelnytskyi region. The ministry also targeted port infrastructure in Chornomorsk and a cargo vessel heading for Odesa, which it said was used for military purposes.

On Russian territory, a Ukrainian drone attack on Voronezh killed two people and wounded 17, regional Governor Alexander Gusev said. Debris from the drone fell on a commuter train in a left-bank suburb. "A significant number of the injured, including two seriously wounded, were on a train that was moving in the left-bank suburb of Voronezh," Gusev said on Telegram. The strike also started fires at industrial businesses, a business centre and a residential building.

In an interview aired Sunday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Kyiv would stop hitting Russian oil refineries, as US President Donald Trump has demanded, only if Moscow stops striking Ukraine's power infrastructure. Ukraine said on Saturday that Starlink and Starshield were fully operational again after more than a week of restrictions. Negotiators from Ukraine, Russia and the United States are scheduled to meet in Abu Dhabi in the first half of November.
